Scadoxus puniceus

Originally, Haemanthus magnificus and known as “The Royal Paintbrush”, Scadoxus puniceus has a spectacular 5” orange scarlet flower head on a stout 12 – 16” stem. The flower head is set off by the bright yellow pollen on a mass of anthers. Best in a min. of 45 deg.F.

Extremely valuable, hardy South African plant giving a spectacular display from late summer into Nov., requires full sun, shelter from wind and some moisture during summer. Plants are raised from seed to minimize virus problems. Colours range from scarlet, salmon pink, very pale blush pink to white, which is less vigorous than the other colours. 1.5L pot with several rhizomes.
